[QUOTE=kerpall]WTF is with fps suggestions!
fps = first person shooter
gw = 3rd person view, YES there are games out there that utilize 3rd person view with guns. They have bows in GW, does it make the screen go into first person? NO -_- .
QUOTE]
Technically you CAN go to first person(roll you mouse wheel up bunch of times) but it is a disaster when play like that....

Well i suppose, but thats not really a 1st person Hud , its more just a zoomed in view.
fps = aim arrows with your mouse, and click to shoot.

While those people who loves Guns have a good point.
The People who disagree doesn't have a reasonable explanation.
Quotes:
1. Guns would take over GW, cause it would destroy Lightning Bolts and Metoer Showers, too overpowerd!
2. Play FPS game instead, cause all Guns should be piled up there(You forgot the other Guns from other Games too, Neeed help in piling?).
3. GW is definitely Fantasy-Based, and it's supposed to be based on Middle Ages, and there are no Firearms in the Middle-Ages(Who said it should be? Also China brought Firearms even before Middle-Ages, ahem).
4. Guns sux XD!
If there's more please add^^.
No Offense to people who posted same Reasons^^.

GW may be based in a Middle Ages-like environment.
But it's actuall far from it now. And it will be even more in the 200 years of GW2.
With a constant war between Charr and Humans, new weapons it's something obvious to have. After the Ascalon Chosen ones being all over the world and seen all weapons that are all over the world, the idea of miniature versions of bombards or siege cannons it's something obvious.
Only time is needed.

yeah way to go, these FOR your cause rock while these against your cause SUCK. Hahaha great job mate, good thing you aren't a high government official, or else your department had be REAL corrupted lol
And yes guns do suck, in GW anyways. Imagine ALL the stupidity that will come out with the introduction of guns into GW and all the rest junk. I won't type it all up cause of my huge lab today, so just imagine, you can do it!
And Carta babe, why don't you take my advise by removing GW off your comp and smash all the GW installation cds and buy yourself a Halo 3, it has guns, and it quite good, REALLY!
Lastly, one must realize that this world isn't reasonable, so why should we?

I'm just quoting these points, not you directly Magna carta ^^.
okay 1) Guns taking over GW...
IF you were in a game that consisted of Bows, and swords, and some guy on the forums said "Hey lets add magic" , based on this logic here is a predictable responce: "No way, Magic will take over the game! Fireballs are waay more powerful than swords and shield."
Plus, Meteor showers , and lightning bolts are way more powerful.
Lightning bolts move super fast, versus a tiny bullet at 1000 fps?
LOL or a meteor (2 cubic feet big) moving at speeds over 1000+ feet p/sec, versus a tiny shard of metal at 1000 feet p/sec? Magic is way more powerful than guns, the only advantage guns would have would be guns could be used in a more confined space, and w/o casting time (Sacrifice damage, for uninteruptable pretty much. except for hexes that interupt the "next cast spell" type of thing).
If you really want me to google every Non-FPS with guns, i will. That is not even a valid point (@ who ever magna carta is quoting). There are even more gun-mmorpg's that are set in "GW-time" of magic, than "Futuristic" mmorpg's with guns.
PLUS
Guns would not be accessable to every player, they would be class specific.
Guns themselves do not determine how powerful they are, the skills ANET gives them does. I am pretty sure that ANET would not make guns do "999 dmg / 1hit kill" , you see theres a little thing called "balancing" .
In Real life:
Meteor hits you, 1 hit kill
Lightning strikes you, good as dead
Guy with hammer smashes your face in, 1 hit kill
Guy with bow shoots you, good as dead (due to Large size of arrow)
Guy with gun shoots you, betetr chance of living than if hit by Arrow. (Bullets are small projectiles, although fired at a higher feat per second, they take up smaller area. Which meens smaller hole in your body.)

Frankly, I'm agnostic about the idea of guns in the game, but I'm curious if those that rail against their inclusion also protest anything that breaks the high fantasy immersion.
You do stomp and shout about all the tongue-in-cheek references to modern culture found throughout the game, right?

Yeah, up to anet.
I was just trying to make a point lol. All these people who "protest guns" aren't even really making valid points except for "i don't like them, so i say no". All these people that do want them have come up with several facts about lore, and everything to support this.
If all you guys (who are reading this atm) want to protest, atleast give a valid reason.

i am sure all who opposed to guns (profession base) in GW or GW2 will be the first to make characters with guns if and when it is available in the game.
lol sif don't want gun, sif not suitable with the timeline, concept artists can make anything suitable with the look and feel of the game.

Why haven't the robots teamed up with the dinosaurs yet? That's a better question to answer. Do they both think they're too good to be biomechs?
Brainstorm time guys... unusual RPG game weapons:
slingshot, Molotov cocktails, potato launchers, grenades, claymore mines, huey, m60, golden gun, mops (don't laugh - mr. Clean would be a badass character class)
I guess I'd settle for a grenade launcher attachment for staves..
Dinosaurs, robots, ooze, rats. What wierdness. Charr are a strange race, but I love em.

Then you said it all.
The references are one of the most fun and interesting appeals of the game.
They show the mirroring between worlds that many stories have.

again, Not one valid reason to support your view.
Atleast those of us that support "guns" have made valid points, and provided evidence of them probably adding gun-like devices (not necessarely hand held).

There are no logical reasons to add a completely new weapon type to the game simply from a logistical perspective. All you do is one of two things... reskin bows and keep the stats and skills the same (Markmanship req, 15-22 damage, etc.), in which case they're limited to ranger primary weapons (you'd also have to develop a whole new set of animations for firing them for every class...) or you create a new weapon, new skill set, new attribute line, etc. and effectively need a new class of character to utilize them to maximum effect. C'mon, think about it...
If you don't go with reskinned bows...
They would need a primary attribute.
They would need a new set of skills.
They would need new characters with the primary attribute to use them.
They would need MASSIVE testing and balancing.
New animations would need to be developed.
The list goes on.
So basically it's irrelevant whether or not you can squeeze guns into GW lore. Logistically they don't fit in.

This is exactly what they are doing for gw2. They have already started making and designing new races, new skills, and definately new weapons. GW2 will be a "Whole new" game, anyone else who has kept up with GW2 updates know what i am talknig about.
The Dev's said themselves "There is so much we want to add, it is more logical to make a whole New Game" (not a direct quote, but basically the same).

Ah, I thought you wanted Firearms in GW1.
Well, let's see then... maybe we can get guns, and hovercraft armed with nuclear tipped missiles, and Cadillacs, and refrigerators, and <pew pew> lasers too!
My apologies if that's a bit flippant, but the point is that the game is set in it's own universe where things are what they are. Sure, they could introduce guns in GW2, but it wouldn't feel like GW and you'd have every noob and his mother after them. You can make a case for practically anything from the modern world to be inserted... Asuran computers powered by magic, Hovercars powered by those floating rocks, etc.
However, some things just simply don't fit in the story line.

On the otherhand, references to "real life" technology within guildwars is what makes it fun. If you havnt already noticed, what do you think G.O.L.E.M.s are? They are "programmed robots" per say, although programmed through "magic" and not the way we program our robots.
Most of the asuran inventions have references to real-life things. I'm pretty sure they Asura's already have crude "Magical computing devices" used in the aid of programmnig the G.O.L.E.M. 's .
